Congratulations to the Fall 2023 Protégés!
Another cohort of protégés are completing their year in AFP Chicago’s Peer Mentoring program. Please join me in congratulating…
Over the past year, these early-career members of our chapter have built a relationship with their assigned mentor, a more experienced fundraising professional who offered guidance directed at strengthening each individual protégé’s professional position. Each protégé’s initiative drove their Peer Mentoring Program experience this past year, starting with goal setting - an opportunity to identify what each participant hoped to achieve through the program. While goals may have shifted throughout the year, mentors accompanied protégés through professional development, negotiating promotions and raises, and pursuing new opportunities at other Chicago-area organizations. When asked about their experience in AFP Chicago’s Peer Mentoring program, one protégé from this cohort shared: The tutelage from (my mentor) has been the biggest aid in my professional development. She has been amazing in helping me navigate relationships with donors. We have brainstormed strategy, she has shared stories and resources for donor interaction, and has been a supporting figure in my professional development. I can't thank her or this program enough for all they have done. Thank you to all our participants, especially to these mentors who generously offered their time and expertise to help this year’s protégés expand their careers and networks.
Participants in the Fall 2024 Peer Mentoring cohort will be announced soon. For more information about joining the Peer Mentoring Committee or becoming a protégé or mentor in our Spring 2025 cohort, contact Christopher Chantson or Jennifer Dettloff, Committee Co-Chairs.
