Getting to know 2019 AFP Chicago Chapter President Morgan Collier
Morgan Collier is AFP Chicago's 2019 Chapter President and Vice President for Advancement at Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago. We invited Morgan to share her insights with us, including how she entered the development profession, turning points in her career, and why she is looking forward to the year ahead.
AFP CHICAGO: Morgan, how did you enter the development profession?

| Morgan: As with so many things in life, we can blame on our mothers, my mom was in fundraising and I remember her being an NSFRE member. I grew up helping her at fundraising events and I volunteered in her office doing data entry one summer - where I got to meet Alex Pope back when we were both youngsters. In college, I realized I could use a degree in communications for more than just PRI secured a summer internship at Lincoln Park Zoo - where I worked with Ave Costa and Christine Zrinsky. These women gave me the skills and experience to see what I wanted to do, and I light up when I see them at AFP events today - and I'm so grateful! The women who mentored me along the way gave me the confidence to grow in the field and now I love sharing my passion with others around me. read more |

AFP Chicago Peer Mentoring Q&A
For this month's feature on Peer Mentoring, we paired a current protégé with a former protégé to explore the benefits of the program and seek advice for a development professional just entering the mentoring experience.
Our current protégé is Keelie Johnson, Individual Giving & Special Events Manager at Casa Central. She spoke with Hailee Moore, Development Associate at Urban Gateways. Hailee concluded her protégé year in October 2018.

Keelie Johnson : How long were you an AFP member before starting the program?
Hailee Moore: I joined AFP and immediately sent in my application for the Peer Mentoring Program. I have been in the nonprofit sector for four years but had not previously been a member. Once I started at Urban Gateways, I was encouraged to join both AFP and the mentorship program. read more
